LRA and Southern Food & Beverage Museum Partner to Bring the 2009 Magnificent Menu Contest to the 56th Annual Louisiana Foodservice EXPO.
The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) invites all restaurants to participate in
2009 Magnificent Menu Contest, in partnership with the Southern Food & Beverage Museum
(SoFAB), during the 56th Annual Louisiana Foodservice EXPO, July 18-20, in New Orleans.
SoFAB is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans, dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of the culture of food and drink in the South. The museum, in partnership with the Earl K. Long Library at the University of New Orleans, has been conducting an ongoing Menu Project, where menus are collected from restaurants all over the South and archived in their New
Orleans facility. The 2009 Magnificent Menu Contest will simultaneously aid SoFAB’s Menu
Project and recognize our restaurants’ fabulous and creative menus.
To be considered, all restaurants should mail or hand-deliver their full menus (leather binding, if applicable, and all) to the LRA by June 26. The judging will take place in the weeks prior to the EXPO, where the winners will be announced and the menus displayed. Menus will be divided into three categories: Fine Dining, Casual and Banquet/Catering, with the top three receiving ribbons in each category. There will also be an overall Grand Prize winner out of the three categories. SoFAB
will impartially select a national panel of judges.
Judges will be looking for the following criteria:
• Imagination
• Design
• Merchandising Power
